HAVERHILL – Central Catholic certainly picked the right day to have its best couple innings of the season.

The 11th-seeded Raiders twice batted around Sunday afternoon at Northern Essex Community College in their Division 1 Round of 32, pounding No. 22 Lowell 16-1.

Ryan Cloutier was 3 for 4 with two runs and an RBI, and allowed just four hits and one earned run in five innings to earn the win as Central Catholic downed Chelmsford 10-2. Charlie Antonopoulos added three RBIs and Jack Savio added two RBIs and two runs scored.

Six players drove in at least one run as Central Catholic bounced Haverhill 12-2. Sophomores Jack Savio (2-3 with three runs and three RBI) and Brady Rickenbach (2-4, three runs) led an offense that pounded 17 hits.

Ryan Cloutier struck out nine over five innings, but the Central Catholic bullpen couldn't hold the lead, allowing Lowell to rally for five in the seventh in an 8-3 comeback win at Doubleday Field in Cooperstown. Josh Florence and Ryan Cloutier each had two hits for Central in the loss.

Chase Lembo took on one of the state's most feared lineups and dominated on Wednesday night. The Andover High standout fired a one-hitter with three strikeouts and no walks as the Warriors knocked off Central Catholic, 2-0. Brian Gibson and Joe Bucci drove in the runs for the Warriors who made the most of their four hits.

Central Catholic's Josh Florence sent the game into the 12th inning with an RBI single, but St. Paul responded with two runs, to beat the Raiders 5-3. Florence had three hits, and Nathan Kearney had two hits and an RBI for Central.

Francisco Melendez allowed just two hits over five innings, striking out eight, and Lukasz Rondeau followed with two perfect innings of relief, to lead Central Catholic to a 2-0 win over Methuen. The Raiders scored both of their runs in the sixth, on an RBI each for Jack Savio and Charlie Antonopoulos. Methuen starter Matt Pappalardo worked five shutout innings, striking out five, but ended up with a no-decision.
