Rangers fall short

 

Methuen rallied back from a 10-point deficit and took a one-point lead but Dracut recovered for a 57-56 win in the MVC Division 2 Cup match. Kaitlyn Tierney had a season-high 22 points and played great in defeat for the Rangers.

Phiri scores 39 in loss

 

HAVERHILL — Two things were obvious for the few fortunate enough to watch Haverhill's 60-51 home loss to Dracut Tuesday night.

First, freshman Colleen Phiri, who is the sister of former Hillies' standout Saul Phiri, is one heck of a player who already plays like a seasoned upperclassman.

Can't hold on

Methuen led 13-4 after one but Dracut rallied to force OT. The Middies outscored MHS 4-3 in OT for the 52-51 win. Stephanie Tardugno and Kailyn Tierney each had 17 points for the Rangers.

Keaney does it on D

Dracut led by 12 late in the third, but Methuen rallied for a 61-54 win in overtime. Bella Keaney had a couple huge steals late in the fourth. She and Stephanie Tardugno each had 5 points in OT. Samantha Pfeil, a talented 5-11 freshman, led the Rangers with 18 points while Kaitlin Tierney added 14.
