Andover Golden Warriors Girls Skiing '20-'21

Knights finish 2nd

 

Led by Jane Freund, who finished sixth overall, led North Andover's girls to second in the North Shore League Interscholastics. The Knights would have finished cloer to first place Masconomet but standout Sydney Schwalm fell while leading the slalom. She won the giant slalom in convincing fashion.

'Historic' Schwalm

 

North Andover senior Sydney Schwalm had a race for the ages Wednesday when she placed first in the North Shore League slalom race with a 20.17. She not only stayed unbeaten but she beat the runner-up by more than five seconds. "In all my years of coaching, no one has won by that differential," said veteran coach Jerry Marchegiani, who has been at it for 48 years.

Schwalm blitzes field

 

In her first race for North Andover in two years, Sydney Schwalm showed that she didn't lose a thing. Schwalm, who was out with a torn ACL last year, finished first by a wide margin in the first girls North Shore League race of the season. Teammates Jane Freund and Mia Muse were 9th and 10th as the Knights defeated both Haverhill and Andover.
