Pinkerton's King wins New England title

DURHAM, N.H. — J.J. King, who has oinly done track for two years, won the javelin at the 73rd annual New England Championships at UNH's Reggie Atkins Track.

The senior, who is a UNH recruit, threw 189-4. The 6-4, 215-pounder's third of six throws was the big one. It was just off his modern school record of 190-5. Rhode Island freshman Ian Hall was runner-up with a 185-2 throw. Pinkerton senior Noah Woodman took second in the 400 (49.05) and anchored the Astros' eighth-place 4x400 relay. That quartet, which also included Jadyn Ruimwijk, Adam Spencer and Pat Hanlon, was clocked in 3:27.89.

Ruimwijk rallies for gold at Meet of Champions

MERRIMACK, N.H. — Jadyn Ruimwijk was angry as he settled into his blocks for the 200 meter.

Seleny's big day

Pinkerton's Conor Seleny had a great day at the Londonderry Invitational, winning three events. The sophomore took gold in the 110 hurdles (15.26), the 300 hurdles (41.27) and the 200 (23.11). The Astros also got firsts from Kaleal Cerafici in the shot put (47-3.5) and John King in the javelin (187-6).

Astros best in state

Two Pinkerton tracksters set state-bests for this spring in a tri-meet with Timberlane and Winnacunnet. Nathan Miller pole vaulted a state-best 13-7, then the 4x100 team of Avery Battle, John Brooks, Kayden Baillargeon and Jadyn Ruimwijk ran a 43.53.

King rules

Pinkerton won all but three events to whip, rolling up 138.5 points to whip runner-up Salem (36.5), Somersworth and Spaulding in a quad-meet. Jadyn Ruimwijk won four events including 11.24 and 22.67 in the sprints. J.J. King won the javeling with a big 183-4 heave.
