Nicole Verrette struck out five in a 4-hit shutout to pitch Whittier past Newburyport in the Division 2 North first round. The 19-4 Wildcats were led offensively by Alyssa Michel (2 RBI), Kaley Thibault (triple, 2 runs, 2 hits) and Alicia Habib (2 hits). Kayle Hobbs starred in centerfield.

The Newburyport softball team blanked Masconomet 12-0 to finish the season 11-7 overall. The Clippers will now have about a week and a half off as they await their first round matchup in the state tournament.

Paige Gouldthorpe and Annie Siemasko each hit home runs and Sara Linehan went 4 for 4 with five RBIs as Newburyport softball shut out Lynnfield 12-0 in five innings. Meghan Winn also went 3 for 3 with four runs and Olivia Salvatore and Courtney Walsh each scored two runs as the Clippers improved to 10-7 on the year.

Newburyport softball hammered Hamilton-Wenham 26-14 on Friday, scoring nine runs in the first, six runs in the second and 10 in the fourth to easily win in five innings. Annie Siemasko picked up her first win on the mound while going 3 for 4 with four runs and three RBIs, Madison Duford went 2 for 3 with three runs and three RBIs, and Olivia Salvatore went 2 for 2 with three runs and two RBIs.

Annie Siemasko launched two doubles, Sara Linehan went 4 for 5 with a double and an RBI and Brooke Rogers went 2 for 3 with two RBIs as Newburyport softball buried Masconomet on Wednesday.

Julie Freitas dominated on the mound for Pentucket, throwing a 3-hitter with six strikeouts, and went 2 for 3 at the plate in a 5-3 win over Newburyport.  Madi Codair went 3 for 3 with two RBIs as the Sachems improved to 9-2..  

Triton softball improved to 8-1 with another big win. It's the fourth win where the Vikings have won by outscoring their opponent by at least nine runs, and their largest margin of victory all year.

Paige Gouldthorpe and Olivia Salvatore each blasted home runs in Newburyport's 9-5 win over Lynnfield. Gouldthorpe went 2 for 4 with two runs while also allowing two earned runs over seven innings with eight strikeouts, Annie Siemasko went 2 for 3 with two triples, two runs and three RBIs, and Salvatore went 2 for 4 with a double and the home run along with two RBIs.

Paige Gouldthrope crushed a grand slam and pitched a complete game for the Clippers in their 10-6 victory at home. Olivia Salvatore tripled in two runs while Sarah Linehan caught a strong game behind the plate while going 2-for-3.

Courtney Walsh had a monster day at the plate, going 4 for 4 with three runs scored and three RBIs to lead Newburyport softball to a 9-7 win over Ipswich. Paige Gouldthorpe got the win, pitching seven innings with four earned runs on four hits with seven strikeouts.
