Big second quarter

Newburyport boys basketball outscored Amesbury 20-11 in the second quarter to help pull out a 61-52 win at home on Tuesday night. Casey McLaren knocked down fou 3-pointers on his way to 16 points, Parker McLaren had 12 points and Noah Van Schalkwyk and Jake Valcich each had seven points. Amesbury was led by John Sydlowski and Zach Labrecque, who had 12 points each.

Billy gets buckets

Amesbury got back in the win column with a 71-55 win over Rockport on Friday, and Billy Sydlowski led the way with 23 points. The Indians also got offense from all 11 players who took the court, including John Sydlowski (9 points), Ryan Patterson (8 points) and Tom McAndrews (6 points). Amesbury is now 6-9 on the season.

Bounce back win

Amesbury got a much needed win on Friday, outscoring Georgetown 23-16 in the fourth quarter to win 68-62. John Sydlowski knocked down a pair of 3-pointers on his way to 19 points for the Indians, and Georgetown's Hunter Lane led all scorers with 25 points.

John Sydlowski erupted for 33 points as the Amesbury boys basketball team beat North Reading 80-77 on Tuesday. Sydlowski knocked down eight 3-pointers and hit 11 free throws, and Noah Lynch added 11 points.
