HAVERHILL — The end seemed unavoidable for Andover volleyball.

The No. 3 seed Golden Warriors had dropped the first two games of the Division 1 North final to top-seeded Methuen, the second by a decisive 25-16 score.

Methuen's No. 1-seed volleyball team had no problem rolling over Marblehead in the Division 1 North quarterfinals, breezing to a 25-6 win in the first game of a sweep.Abby Sullivan led the way with 22 kills and 12 blocks while Julia McCoy had 14 kills and 10 service points. The rangers will host Central Catholic at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

Methuen's volleyball team wrapped up a tremendous regular season (19-1) by defeating Lowell 3-0 to tie for the MVC title. Julia McCoy had 14 kills, 10 blocks and 10 servicr points for the Rangers and Abby Sullivan had 23 kills. 

LAWRENCE — Julia McCoy leaped with joy as the final kill in Methuen’s 3-1 win over Central Catholic Monday night slammed onto the court.

ANDOVER — Two of the top squads in Eastern Mass. squared off with No. 16 Methuen pulling the 3-1 upset (24-26, 25-21, 25-12, 27-25) of previously unbeaten No. 3 Andover.

Abby Sullivan was on a mission, recording a whooping 31 kills and an even more remarkable 13 blocks to lead Methuen to a 3-1 win over North Andover. Coach Matt Twomey said that its the first time the Rangers have beaten the Knights in program history.

Julia McCoy tallied 12 kills, a team-high 13 service points and six aces as Methuen topped Malden 3-0.

Abby Sullivan had a huge game with 23 kills and 10 blocks as Methuen improved to 11-1 with 3-1 win over Dracut.

Julia (8 kills, 14 service points, 3 aces) and sister Jillian McCoy (8 kills, 6 digs) shined and Methuen beat Bishop Fenwick, 3-0, to improve to 6-1.

Methuen put together another impressive win, blitzing Somerville 3-0. Laura Staugler shined with 21 assists and Abby Sullivan owned the net with 16 kills and three blocks.
