Tudisco places first at Heptathlon

Pentucket's Saige Tudisco continued her terrific postseason by placing first at the MSTCA Girls Heptathlon, setting a new school record with 4,190 points.

Tudisco ran a 15.6 in the high hurdles, cleared 5-0 in the high jump, threw 25-6 1/4 in the shot put, ran 27.5 in the 200-meter dash, broke the school record in the long jump with 18-5 1/4 (fourth all time in area history), threw 64-7 in the javelin and ran 2:28.80 in the 800.

Griffin, Hornets champs

Meredith Griffin bounced back from a tough race in the mile to lift North Reading to the Eastern Mass. Division 4 title with courageous efforts in the 4x800 and 4x400. She led the Hornets to the win in the 4x800 and soon after ran a key leg for a third in the 4x400. That was enough to give the Hornets the pulsating win over CAL rival Amesbury by a single piont (96-95).

Tudisco claims two records

Pentucket's Saige Tudisco claimed two school records in Thursday's tri-meet against North Reading and Newburyport, running a 15.54 in the 100-meter hurdles while jumping 17-9 in the long jump. She also helped the Sachems to a win in the 4x100 relay and to a clean sweep over both Newburyport and North Reading overall.

Super frosh

 

North Reading freshman Ali Grasso won the 400 hurdles, long jump and triple jump and was on the winning 4x400 relay to pace the Hornets to an 82-54 win over Masconomet. The Hornets also competed against Hamilton-Wenham but that meet will be decided by the pole vault on Thursday.
