Andover boys tennis eliminated

The Andover boys tennis team was ousted by Acton-Boxboro by a score of 4-1 in the Division 1 North Quarterfinals, with Michael Rosen pulling out the only win for the Warriors.

Rosen, competing at third singles, got off to a slow start before racing back to win a thrilling first set 7-6 (7-5). He went on to win the second set easily 6-1 to pick up the lone win for Andover, which finishes the season at 15-3.

Imrie advances to semis

Andover's Andrew Imrie won two matches in the North Sectional, winning 6-1, 6-1 in the Round of 16 and 6-0, 6-0 in the quarterfinals to advance to Sunday's semis. Haverhill's Nhan Nguyen was ousted 6-3, 6-3 in the Round of 16.

Andover flexes muscles

Andover regularly whips teams 5-0 but this was state power St. John's Prep. Andover's doubles dug deep for the sweep. At No. 1,  Liam Alden and David Grossman trailed 5-2 in the first set but rallied to win 7-6 (9-7), 6-2. At No. 2, Ben Colecchi and Ryan Cadagan pulled out the three-set win.

Andover domination

Senior tri-captain Ben Calecchi and senior Kevin Larney took a tough 6-4, 6-4 win at second doubles as Andover flexed its muscles, whipping fellow unbeaten North Andover 5-0.
