NORTH ANDOVER —Freshman Ethan Ford took the mat for North Andover’s first match of Division 2 States. He faced off against Anthony Borelli of Walpole, the Division 2 Central Sectional champion, and promptly pinned him midway through the second round.

CAL cites Boston

 

Pentucket senior Kalon Boston remained undefeated and turned quite a few heads at the Cape Ann League/Northeast Conference meet Saturday.

Boston coasted to the 170-pound title, winning with a 17-0 technical fall in the finals and was named CAL Wrestler of the Year. His training partner, Devin Young nearly joined him in the winner's circle, losing in overtime in the 195-pound finals.

Metheny rolls

 

North Andover heavyweight Isaiah Metheny won all of his matches to highlight North Andover's quad-meet sweep of Beverly, Masconomet and North Reading/Lynnfield. Among six other wrestlers who were 3-0 on the day were 145-pounder Matt Berube and 152-pounder Eli Tuttle.

Hornets survive

 

North Reading's wrestling team stayed unbeaten with a 41-34 win over Greater Lowell, the key win coming when 120-pounder Tim Leggett won by injury default. Connor Stead continued to wrestle well for the Hornets (4-0), getting a majhor decision at 145.
