Andover's Connell, Salem's Nippert place at New Englands

BOSTON — Andover junior Devin Connell finished just off his own school record with a 2:31.69 for second in the 1,000 meters at the New England Championsips.

The talented junior was nipped by Stephen (no relation) Tyler of Weston, Conn., who won in 2:31.53.

Adam Spencer, Evan Rogers and Trevor Hajj went 1-2-3 in the hurdles to pave the Pinkerton boys to an easy first place in a multi-team meet.

Pinkerton dominates

Pinkerton earned wins in the 55 dash (Nico Buccieri), 600 (Noah Woodman), 1,500 (Calvin Graves), 3,000 (Joe Gagnon), 55 hurdles (Adam Spencer), 4x160 relay, 4x400 relay and high jump (Adam Spencer) on the way to rolling to the team title in an 11-team meet with 113 points.

Astros dominate

Calvin Graves won the 1,000 in 2:39.36 and Joe Gagnon took the 3,000 in 9:19.11 as Pinkerton rolled to victory in a multi-team meet with 92 points.
