North Reading Hornets Girls Soccer '16

Hornets move on

NORTH READING — The North Reading girls soccer team is headed back to Manning Field once again, as the Hornets shut out Tewksbury 2-0 in Sunday's Division 3 North quarterfinal matchup.

Rachel Hill scored both goals for North Reading, and Katerina Hassapis made six saves to record the shutout. North Reading (14-4-1) will now face top seeded Swampscott in the semifinal on Tuesday at 5 p.m.

Katerina Hassapis didn't just record her sixth straight shutout, the North Reading goalie also took a penalty kick and scored to help lead her team to a 3-0 win over Rockport.

Karlie Vesey scored only four minutes into the game, but the goal was enough for North Reading to hold on against Manchester Essex 1-0. Katerina Hassapis made five saves in net to get the shutout.

Marissa magic

It was a dominant first half for senior captain Marissa Zarella, who netted four goals in a 30-minute span to lift North Reading to a 5-0 victory over Triton. Rachel Hill also scored for the Hornets, and Katerina Hassapis made two saves.
