WORCESTER — All Andover senior Sophia Ju has known during her high school swimming career is the feeling of being a champion.

And that’s never going to change.

The Andover girls swimming and diving team capped off another MVC Large championship, beating Chelmsford 94-81 to finish the season 12-0 overall. Freshman Ashley Grover won the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 1:02.29, and she was also on the winning 200-medley relay.

The Andover swim team tuned up for Friday's MVC showdown with unbeaten Chelmsford with an easy 103-78 win over Belmont. Sophomores Eliza Williams and Emily Ma had big days for the Warriors (11-0).

Central Catholic's Cecelia Burke took the top prize at the MVC Diving Championships, scoring a 455.50 to edge out Haverhill's Megan Carroll (432.45) for first place. Other top finishers included Carroll in second, Andover's Sydney Ho (427.95) in third, Andover's Maddie Quill (387.90) in fourth and North Andover's Alison DelMarco (368.45) in fifth.

Andover (10-0) had several swimmers step up in a romp over Billerica. Two of the big stars were double-winners Maddie Kessel and Andrea Pantazi.

Ella Reck and Sarah Leinbach were two of the stars for Andover swimming, which rolled past Dracut to remain unbeaten.

Andover won every event in rolling past North Andover. One of the highlights was a stellar effort by Dreea Zetea in winning the 100 breaststroke.

ANDOVER — The members of the 2017 Andover High swim team may not have experienced the losses, but they know the stories of the Golden Warriors’ rivalry with Acton-Boxboro.

The Warriors heard about the 2007 heartbreak, when Acton-Boxboro snapped Andover’s 99-meet winning streak that dated back to 1999.

Fueled by the talented Clements sisters, Jordy and Emily, Andover swimming rolled past Haverhill. 

Freshman Emily Chen won the 50 freestyle in a state qualifying time and was on the winning 200 freestyle relay as Andover (4-0) sunk Melrose 88-74.
