Andover advances

ANDOVER — The Andover field hockey team was locked in a scoreless tie with Concord-Carlisle at halftime, but the Golden Warriors got a pair of second half goals off penalty corners from Kate Gregory and Katherine Furry to pick up the 2-0 win.

Gregory's goal came about eight minutes into the second half off a corner from Furry. Then with about three minutes to play, Gregory served up Furry for a goal of her own to give the Golden Warriors some breathing room.

Good tuneup

 

Andover's field hockey team blanked Beverly 3-0 to finish the regular season 16-1-1 as it prepares for the Division 1 tournament next week. Junior Katherine Furry scored twice and Katherine Devaney had a goal and an assist.

Hard-fought win

 

Caroline Buck, a JV callup due to injuries, scored her first varsity goal to lead Andover (13-1) to a hard-fought 2-1 victory over North Andover. Sammy Shea also scored for the Warriors, her 17th of the season, while Casey Conwell scored on a breakaway for the Knights (9-2-1), whose only setbacks have been to Andover.

Shea shows way

Sammy Shea scored twice and Jordan Torres also found the back of the net as the unbeaten Andover field hockey team tripped Central Catholic 3-1.

Unbeaten Andover

Andover field hockey whipped defending Division 1 state runner-up Longmeadow 4-0. Jordan Torres scored twice and midfielders Emma Farnham and Kat Devaney shined. The Warriors got a lift from senior sweeper Phebe Ozirsky in her first career start.

Furious Furry

Katherine Furry scored twice and added an assist to lead Andover to a 4-0 season-opening win over Central Catholic. Sammy Shea also had two goals, and Megan Hartnett made seven saves in net for the Golden Warriors. Nicole Brennan made 14 saves for Central Catholic.
