In the North Sectional heptathlon, which was held Monday and Tuesday at North Reading High, Pentucket senior McKenna Kilian dominated the 68-competitor field. The versatile and talented Kilian had a 101-point lead after Day 1 (2,366 to 2,265) and built on it in a big way with the three events Tuesday. She racked up 4,066 points to easily beat runner-up Katie Maehl of Waltham (3,624). Kilian, who will compete at Central Connecticut, is now ranked fifth all-time in the area. Julia Valenti of North Reading was fifth with 3,435 points.

Junior Julia Valenti cleared a school record 12-6 and won four events, including the shot put in 35-2 in her first try at the event, to pace North Reading's girls to a sweep on Ipswich and Masconomet and their second straight Cape Ann League title. Freshman Meredith Griffin won the mile in 5:28 for the Hornets, who are 17-0 in meets over the last two years.
