Despite Dominique Ortiz's 17 digs, Whittier, the fourth seed, lost 3-0 to top-seeded Greater New Bedford in the Voch-Tech volleyball tournament.

Chantel Riendeau had 25 kills and 22 digs and Dominique Ortiz added 20 kills and 28 digs but Whittier couldn't hold off Austin Prep, losing in four games in what coach Deb Littlefield said was a "fantastic match."

An epic volleyball match produced some epic stats.

Dominique Ortiz recorded 42 digs, Makayla Hardy had 39 assists and Chantel Riendeau smashed 27 kills as Whittier held off Shawsheen 3-2.

Makayla Hardy had 11 assists, 14 service points and 12 aces to lead Whittier volleyball to a 3-0 sweep of Lynn Tech. 

Chantel Riendeau's 20 kills plus 32 passes from Dominique Ortiz powered Whittier past Greater Lawrence Tech, 3-2, in a volleyball instant classic.

After getting blasted 25-8 in the first game and dropping the second game, Whittier Tech's volleyball team rallied for a 3-2 victory over Lawrence to qualify for the state tournament. Chantel Riendeau had 13 kills and four blocks for the Wildcats (10-4) and Dominique Ortiz had eight kills and 29 digs.

Christina Boutin served 16 points in a row to highlight Whittier's 3-0 volleyball victory over Fellowship Christian.

Amanda Pelletier scored team-highs in service points (9) and blocks (9) as Whittier improved to 6-1 by beating Chelsea 25-11, 25-8, 25-22.

Whittier held off PMA, 3-2, winning Game 5 15-13. Kayle Hobbs had 21 assists and Selina Brito 28 digs in the win.

Chantel Riendeau and Dominique Ortiz dominated at the net with 15 and 10 kills, Makayla Hardy passed effectively and Ortiz added 23 digs as unbeaten Whittier (4-0) won a tough battle with Greater Lawrence, winning by two points in three straight games. Jasmine Severino had an impressive seven blocks for the Reggies (3-0).
