WRENTHAM — Methuen’s boys cross country team has been up and down in Eastern Mass. championship races in the past, but Saturday the Rangers were up.

In a rugged Division 1 field, the Rangers finished third with 85 points, just four behind Cambridge and five behind MVC foe Lowell.

In 15-45 boys cross country victories over both Central Catholic and Dracut, Methuen's boys top five finished within nine seconds of each other. Cam Pavao led with a 16:25 for 3 miles, followed by Matt Marchand, Jeff Reddy, John St. Hilaire and Devin Allen (15:34).
