Carly Swartz knocked down North Reading's lone 3-pointer of the game with just over a minute left to give her squad the lead, and Julia McDonald scored her only points of the game on three crucial free throws in the final minute to give the Hornets a 51-46 victory over Manchester Essex.

Coach John DePasquale's North Reading Hornets defeated Ursaline Academy 57-41 in the Cougar Classic final on Saturday. DePasquale had previously coached Ursaline Academy for 12 years, winning a state title in 2005.
