Fitzgerald sharp in Hornet loss

Senior John Fitzgerald closed out his hoop career with a monster effort, scoring 24 points and adding 10 rebounds, but North Reading bowed out in the Division 3 North opener to Stoneham, 68-63.
The overachieving Hornets, who essentially lost everyone from last year's 20-0 squad, finished at 10-11 on the year.

Maturing Hornets

 

North Reading's rebuilding boys basketball team won its third straight game, 59-40 over Masconomet. The Hornets (4-4) had seven 3-pointers in the first half from Justin Dorosh and Derek Hogan, including five in the second quarter when North Reading pulled away with a 24-7 frame. Dorosh finished with 19 points, one more than Hogan.
