Andover took second and North Andover third at the state team gymnastics championships in Shrewsbury.

Team champion Barnstable, the Knights and the Golden Warriors qualified for New Englands on March 15 at Algonquin Regional.

HUDSON —Andover rolled to the title at the North Sectionals yesterday. The deep and talented Golden Warriors totalled 146.1 points, topping their school record of 145.0 set at their recent Senior Night.

Courtney Carver of Andover took third in the all-around (36.225) and Nicole Stevens of North Andover finished seventh (35.85) at the Massachusetts individual state meet. 

North Andover's Madeleine Shea won the bars (9.0) and teammate Nicole Stevens earned first places on the beam (9.6) and floor (9.5) while taking third in the all-around 36.7.

Led by a season-best 37.2 in the all-around by Courtney Carver, Andover set a new school record for points in a meet with 145.05 to beat North Andover (141.75) and Westford (140.85).

North Andover gymnastics entered yesterday's meet with just five gymnasts. The inactive list included one with a concussion, one with the flu and one held out over academics.
