LAWRENCE — Twenty-three straights wins — a league and now a sectional championship in hand — and George Sullivan won't budge.

Haverhill's volleyball team had no trouble with Lynn Classical in the Division 1 North quarterfinals, blasting Lynn Classical 25-9, 25-8, 25-13 to improve to 17-3. Abigail Sonugu led the way at the net with 18 kills while Haley DeRoche added nine kills and had 18 digs. The Hillies will have a harder time tomorrow when they play at No. 1 seed Pabody at 7 p.m.

Haverhill's volleyball team captured the MVC Division 2 title for the second straight year, thrashing Lowell 3-0 to improve to 15-3. Megan Tracy led the way with 11 kills and Haley DeRoche had 15 digs. 

Haley DeRoche led Haverhill in digs with 21 and had 10 kills to back up Abigail Sonugu's 19 kills as the Hillies (11-3) swept Central Catholic in volleyball. 

The Merrimack College field hockey team (7-4) dominated-ninth-ranked Bentley University 3-0 yesterday as North Andover's Candace Waldie had three assists and merrimac's Maura Doyle had a goal and two assists.

Although both teams began the match with identical records, Haverhill swept Methuen in volleyball behind the 19 kills of Abigail Sonuga. Alexis Alestock came up with 15 digs and had a strong passing match for the Hillies (8-2). 

Merry Eagan had 19 service points, including six aces, as North Andover remained unbeaten in volleyball, sweeping Haverhill in straight games. Abigail Sonugu had 12 kills for the Hillies.
