Andover's boys soccer team defeated Central Catholic for the second time this season, 2-0 on goals by Declan Collins and Matt Kelly to improve to 8-5-4. The Warriors are 2-0-2 in their last four games.

Andrew Valdes returned in a big way after missing eight games with a knee injury to score two goals as unbeaten North Andover (10-0) clipped Central Catholic 5-1. Mike Skarabelis had a goal and two assists.

Richie Davis and Andy Segura both scored in the second half to lead Haverhill soccer 2-0 over MVC rival Central Catholic. Evan Penney made seven big saves for the Hillies.

Rookie rocks

First-year varsity player Chris Cavanaugh, a sophomore, scored his first goal as Central Catholic won 1-0 over Tewskbury in boys soccer action.

Cavanaugh's goal came with about 15 minutes remaining in the contest and was assisted by Griffin Holland.

Lancers stun Central

Sophomore Hugo Guevara got pulled down in the box late in the game, drawing a penalty kick chance for Lawrence High with the score tied against Central Catholic. Carlos Diego made no mistakes with the opportunity, pouring in the lone goal of the game in the Lancers' 1-0, season-opening win.
