Wonderful Warnock

 

R.J. Warnock continued his mastery on the mound for North Reading, shutting down Swampscott 6-1  in Division 3 North first-round action. He threw a 3-hitter, striking out seven without issuing a walk or an earned run, and also helped his own cause with two hits, an RBI and a run scored.

Hornets reach Clancy final

R.J. Warnock embraced the challenge of Lynn English and Vanderbilt-bound Ben Bowden.
The North Reading senior was simply untouchable, firing a four-hitter to beat English and Bowden, 6-0, in the opening round of the Nipper Clancy Tournament at Fraser Field.
Today at 4, the Hornets face St. Mary's of Lynn for the Clancy title with Ryan McAuliffe headed to the hill.
With the win, Warnock moved to 9-1 on the year and moves into a second-place tie on the Hornets' all-time win list with 26. He anc current Hornets' assistant Steve Palazzolo have 26 career high school wins. Dennis Livingston is the all-time leader with 30.

Two out magic

Dennis Rollfs stroked a bases clearing three-run double with two outs in the fifth. North Reading scored all six of its runs with two outs and won 6-3 over Hamilton-Wenham.

No walks for Warnock

R.J. Warnock pitcheda three-hitter, struck out seven and walked nobody in North Reading's 3-1 victory over Newburyport. 

The one run he surrendered was unearned. He has given up just six walks all season.

Putting out fires

R.J. Warnock came through when it counted in North Reading's 4-0 baseball victory over Lynnfield. Trailing by three runs, the Pioneers loaded the bases with no outs in the fourth inning but Warnock (six hits, eight strikeouts) induced an infield fly then struck out the next two batters to crush the threat. Lynnfield also had runners at second and third in the fifth but another Warnock K kept the opposition scoreless.

Magical win

North Reading baseball entered the bottom of the 10th inning down three runs. But the Hornets came away with a 6-5 victory over Masconomet despite not stroking a single hit during the frame.

R.J.Warnock and Ryan Sanborn each had RBI triples in North Reading's 14-3 baseball win over Pentucket. Warnock, who pitched a complete game, had three hits and both Sanborn and Ryan McAuliffe drove in three runs on the day.

Ryan McAuliffe fanned 16 batters but the big news from North Reading's 9-1 win over Newburyport was Frank Carey earned his 700th win. He's only the second manager in New England high school history with over 700 wins.
