With 6.6 seconds left and Methuen leading by one point, North Andover had posession with the chance to take the lead when Kelly Dorandi stole the ball to clinch the Rangers' 47-46 victory. Methuen was led by Amanda Petrow with 14 points while the Scarlet Knights, without injured star Morgan Lumb, were paced by Michaela Mello (12 points).

TOPSFIELD – There’s never a good time to lose your best player to injury, but it especially hurts when you’re already thin in the depth department. And playing a pair of arch rivals back-to-back makes it especially painful.

Point guard Pam Coufos "really stepped up and did a nice job," according to head coach Sue Breen as North Andover bashed Dracut, 55-27. Coufos finished with 10 points, 7 rebounds, 9 steals and 6 assists in the blowout victory.

Senior forward Michaela Mello scored 11 points and added seven rebounds while Mackenzie Mello collected 13 rebounds and made five steals to lead North Andover girls basketball 64-32 over Lowell.

Morgan Lumb scored 12 points and dished off 10 assists while Michaela Mello ripped down 12 rebounds to go with six points as North Andover rolled past Chelmsford, 56-33.

NORTH ANDOVER — It wasn't the best of nights for Morgan Lumb, who had trouble finding her range.

But being a true shooter, she didn't give up.

The North Andover senior connected on a couple of huge treys in an 80-second span, as the Scarlet Knights rallied from a 10-point fourth-quarter deficit for a 52-49 victory over Salem in a Greater Lawrence Christmas Tournament semifinal. North Andover (5-0) advances to play Central Catholic in Sunday's 7:15 p.m. championship. Salem will play Andover for third at 5:30.

Morgan Lumb scored 20 points and Leah Chittick added 10 as North Andover won 52-32 over Methuen in the first round of the Greater Lawrence girls basketball tournament.

North Andover made its MVC debut with a big 53-28 win over Tewksbury. Morgan Lumb had 10 assists, Pam Coufos had nine steals and Leah Chittick led all scored with 16 points. Christina Castaldo added a career-high 11 points.
