Unbeaten Reading's offensive depth — despite using only six players — was too much for sixth-ranked North Andover to contest, ending the Knights' tourney run in the Division 2 North finals with a 50-33 defeat. Morgan Lumb shook off a fierce Rocket defensive blanket to lead North Andover with 17 points and 6 rebounds.

North Andover's girls got off to a slow start but rallied behind Morgan Lumb for a 38-34 Division 2 North first-round victory over Tewksbury.

Sophomores contributed to a fast start and strong finish as North Andover girls hoop defeated Methuen, 62-43. Megan Collins had six quick first-quarter points off the bench as part of a 17-point night while Leah Chittick (15 points) turned nice kick-out passes into seven third-quarter points. Senior Pam Coufos played outstanding defense with eight big steals while adding four assists.

Amanda Williams had 21 points as Central Catholic slowly but surely built its lead over North Andover, eventually finishing with a 57-38 victory. Sophomore Megan Collins came off the bench with 15 points and six rebounds for North Andover.

 ANDOVER — No one would have given Andover much chance at a fourth straight state championship after the huge graduation losses it suffered. But the way the Golden Warriors do the little things needed to be successful, no one should be surprised if they make a strong playoff run.

For the first time since losing Morgan Lumb to a sprained ankle Jan. 15, North Andover girls basketball earned a victory. 

The Scarlet Knights posted a 45-37 victory over Lowell behind Michaela Mello's season-high 15 points to go with four rebounds and four steals. 

Despite a stellar effort from sophomore Megan Collins (17 points and 10 rebounds), North Andover dropped a 65-44 decision to a strong Billerica squad.

Casey McLaughin netted 15 points and added 11 rebounds to lead Central Catholic 44-23 over North Andover in girls basketball.
