Central Catholic wasn't about to let Peabody make it a five-game match last night in the Division 1 North volleyball quarterfinals.

The Raiders won the first two games convincingly but dropped the third game. But, led by Amanda Willaims, who had 17 kills and three blocks, Central won the final game in a rout, 25-13,  to advance to tomorrow's semifinal at North Andover.

Central Catholic's girls volleyball team had no trouble with Lynn Classical in its tourney opener, giving up just 20 points in three games. Amanda Williams had six kills and two blocks for the Raiders (14-5), 

Liz Wait notched 16 kills as Andover (19-0) held off upset-minded Central Catholic 3-2, winning Game 5 15-9. Michelle Bouchard had 37 digs for the Raiders.

Meg Sears contributed 14 service points and five aces as Central Catholic rolled past Methuen 3-0.

Central Catholic's improving volleyball team won its second straight match against a winning team by a 3-0 score, this time sweeping Haverhill in three. Amanda Williams had eight kills and three blocks for the Raiders (10-4) while Abigail Sonuga led the Hillies (10-4) with nine kills.

Despite playing with broken fingers, Liz Wait and Molly Cronin led Andover to a come-from-behind 3-2 win over Central Catholic in volleyball. Wait had 17 kills and five blocks while Cronin chipped in with 11 kills and seven blocks.
