Will Eikenberry's third goal of the game brought Andover to within one, with 10 minutes remaining. But that was as close as the No. 11 Golden Warriors would come in a 10-6 loss to No. 6 Needham, in yesterday's Division 1 East action.

Andover blanked Braintree, 10-0, in the preliminary round of the Division 1 East tourney. Andy Hook made 10 saves and the defense was anchored by Taber Tyrrell, Tyler Weeks, Josh Chevalier, Paul Sockel and Jake O'Brien. "It was pretty cool," said Andover coach Wayne Puglisi of the shutout, which was believed to be Andover's first since whitewashing Tyngsboro in 2006. 

Andrew Eriksen scored with 45 seconds to go in regulation to send the game into overtime, as Andover pushed Lincoln-Sudbury to the limit before falling 8-7 in double overtime. Andy Hook (14 saves) paced a stellar Golden Warrior defensive effort, helped by Taber Tyrrell and Tim Oteri.

Senior goalie Andy Hook posted 18 saves and the Andover defense held Masconomet scoreless in the second and third quarters. Andover won 10-6 over Masco, which is ranked 11th in Eastern Mass.

Tom LoMedico (two goals and an assist) capped a three-goal run to tie the game late in regulation, but Andover had an early overtime fast-break run thwarted and Chelmsford responded late in the extra session to take the 10-9 victory.

Andover made a huge statement for MVC lacrosse, knocking off New Hampshire unbeaten Londonderry, 11-5. Matt McIver netted five Warrior goals, while Andy Hook stood strong in goal with 18 saves. Rob Hart scored four times for the Lancers.

Tyler Stahle scored his first varsity goal and Andover whipped Haverhill, 16-4.

Tom LoMedico scored three goals and Will Reardon had five assists as Andover rolled over Lexington 9-2.
