A costly squander in the second inning, loading the bases with none out and not scoring, came back to hurt Andover in a 4-2 loss to Peabody in the Geanoulis Memorial tourney finals. The Warriors fought back from a 4-0 deficit in the sixth when Jimmy Walsh and Andrew Deloury doubled and Chris Dunn added an RBI ground out.

Livingston dominant

Alec Livingston went the route in a 3-hitter, shutting out Masconomet, 5-0, and powering Andover to the finals of the Peabody High Tournament. Tonight at 7 p.m., the Warriors will most likely face the home team and all-Scholastic flame-thrower Pat Ruotolo in the title game. Chris Dunn had an RBI double for the Warriors and Colin Flynn handled all six chances perfectly at third base.

The win came with a price as shortstop Andrew Deloury had to leave the game, suffering an 11-stitch cut in his shin. Replacement Frank Potts chipped in with an RBI in the win. Methuen, at 7-11, is eliminated from tourney contention.

Andover's Andrew Johnian allowed just a single hit and struck out a stunning 14 batters, carrying a perfect game into the fifth and not walking a single batter, as the Golden Warriors beat Lawrence 5-0. "Johnian was just awesome," said Lawrence coach Brendan Neilon. Adam Risman led the Warrior offense with two RBIs.

Crucial victory

Andover turned a couple double plays and Collin Flynn had a big two-run single in the fourth as Andover moved into a first-place tie with Lowell and Chelmsford atop the MVC.

The Warriors came up big in the infield in the third with a bases-loaded double playand in the fourth right fielder Greg Calbro made a diving catch and doubled up a runner. Colin Flynn had a two-run single in the fourth.

LOWELL — In one aspect, Andover High really didn't deserve to lay claim to sole possession of the Merrimack Valley Conference.

The Warriors uncharacteristically didn't hit the ball hard against a stable of Lowell throwers and wasted key opportunities, while allowing the Raiders to pound 13 hits.

A quick comeback

After falling behind Dracut by four runs, catcher Brian Ganci got Andover quickly back into the contest with a three-run triple in the second inning. A six-run sixth-inning led by Andrew Deloury's two-run base hit completed the comeback as Andover emerged victorious, 9-5.
