No pressure

After trailing much of the night, Londonderry took the lead with two minutes left and won on Ben Flanders' 3-pointer with six seconds remaining, beating Haverhill, 61-58. Brian McClure stoked the winning Lancer offense with seven assists. Sophomore Anthony Dionne led the Hillies with 21 points.

Foul trouble

 

Haverhill's boys were within five points late in the game in a Lowell Tournament opener, but foul trouble proved lethal in a 75-55 loss to Acton-Boxboro. Led by the 36 points of 6-foot-5 Kevin LaFrancis, A-B made 23 of 24 free throws compared to just 4 of 8 for the Hillies.

Sophomore Matt Jameson knocked down six 3-pointers on his way to a game-high 20 points, and Haverhill hit 11 3s as a team, as the Hillies topped Billerica 65-58.

Uneventful night as Andover races past Hillies

HAVERHILL — Stage 2 of the Andover High boys basketball season is complete. The Golden Warriors have now played their first road game, a convincing 72-53 win over Haverhill High.

Last Tuesday night was Stage 1, when Andover opened its season at home after nearly a month of turmoil relating to a humiliating hazing incident involving several Andover High players at a July basketball camp in Easton, Mass.
