In its first tournament appearance in over 30 years, the North Reading field hockey team fell to powerful Belmont 4-0 in the Division 2 North first round, but coach Lindsay Breen was hardly despondent.

Sara Gaeta and Amy Cronin both scored twice as Georgetown's field hockey defeated North Reading 4-0 to improve its record to 11-3-4, which already gives it one more victory than last year.

For the first time in recent memory, possibly as long as 30 years, North Reading's field hockey team earned a postseason berth by shutting out Amesbury, 2-0.

 The North Reading field hockey team moved within a point of its first-ever tournament berth with a 4-2 victory over Triton. Julie Dale and Michelle Rikeman both had a pair of goals for the Hornets (7-5-3).

North Reading found itself in a battle against a Rockport team with just one win, but a strong Hornet defense made Lauren Emrich's first-half goal stand up for a 1-0 victory. Olivia Bernard sparked the shutout performance with a very solid game at right back.

North Reading held down a strong Masconomet offense but couldn't connect itself, dropping a tough 1-0 decision. Senior captain Julia Shaw had an excellent game at left back for the Hornets while Nicole Eisenhaure played well in net.

North Reading had 29 shots and 10 corners but just couldn't finish on offense. Amesbury took advantage to eke out a 2-1 victory. Meghan Riley drew kudos from coach Lindsay Breen for putting in a strong, 60-minute effort.

Lawrence field hockey lost its opener to North Reading, 3-0, but new Lancer coach Kate Quinlan raved about the defensive play of Bianca Rodriguez, Thalia Garcia, Sabrina Tavares and Wendy Almanzar. Michelle Rikeman scored twice for the Hornets.
