In its first tournament appearance in over 30 years, the North Reading field hockey team fell to powerful Belmont 4-0 in the Division 2 North first round, but coach Lindsay Breen was hardly despondent.

Double trouble

 

Sara Gaeta and Amy Cronin both scored twice as Georgetown's field hockey defeated North Reading 4-0 to improve its record to 11-3-4, which already gives it one more victory than last year.

 The North Reading field hockey team moved within a point of its first-ever tournament berth with a 4-2 victory over Triton. Julie Dale and Michelle Rikeman both had a pair of goals for the Hornets (7-5-3).

North Reading found itself in a battle against a Rockport team with just one win, but a strong Hornet defense made Lauren Emrich's first-half goal stand up for a 1-0 victory. Olivia Bernard sparked the shutout performance with a very solid game at right back.

Lawrence field hockey lost its opener to North Reading, 3-0, but new Lancer coach Kate Quinlan raved about the defensive play of Bianca Rodriguez, Thalia Garcia, Sabrina Tavares and Wendy Almanzar. Michelle Rikeman scored twice for the Hornets.
