Sparked by key saves from Nicole DiFilippo, Central Catholic answered a 4-0 loss to Andover earlier in the season by battling the Golden Warriors to a scoreless field hockey tie yesterday. "I told the girls that if they can play No. 2 like that (a battle that Chelmsford won in the last 15 seconds last Monday), we can play No. 1 (Andover) like that," said Raider coach Josselyn Mroz.

Central Catholic played exceptionally well. but late Chelmsford goals in both halves sent the Raiders to a tough 2-1 defeat. The Lions scored on a penalty stroke with 30 seconds left in the contest to break the tie.

With senior Kelly Michal funnelling the Central Catholic offense effectively to a bevy of teammates, the Raiders easily rolled over Everett, 6-1.

Surrendering a season-high amount of goals, Central Catholic was beaten by an upset-minded Bishop Fenwick squad, 5-4. The Raiders rebounded behind Taylor O'Neil to erase a two-goal deficit and draw even, but the sub-.500 Crusaders notched the next two goals to control the rest of the game. Bishop Fenwick came into the contest having lost seven of its last eight games including a 3-2 verdict against Central in late September.

Freshman Karoline Leavitt scored her first career hat trick and chipped in with an assist as Central Catholic bested Lowell 6-2.

On a day where Central Catholic had trouble finishing its offense, Krista Maloney made the difference as she had a hand in every Raider goal as part of a 3-0 field hockey win over Dracut. Maloney had two goals and an assist in the win.

With boatloads of experience playing together, Andover was an impressive, cohesive unit moving up and down the field on a beautiful Sunday evening at Veterans Memorial Stadium. Central Catholic, experiencing its first blush of success in its third year of existence, has to resist the impulse to play an individual game every once in a while. That made all the difference in a key MVC midseason matchup taken by the Golden Warriors, 4-0.

Off a corner, Abbie King sent a pass to Kelly Michal, who scored a goal as time expired to give Central Catholic field hockey a 3-2 win over Bishop Fenwick. Defender Molly Bryant set up Michal's heroics, making a pair of saves behind the goalie.
