Katie Cronin tallied 13 kills as Methuen edged Haverhill 3-2.

Courtney Green had 15 service points, including three aces as No. 5 North Andover downed No. 12 Haverhill 25-13, 25-19, 25-16 in the Division 1 North first round. The Scarlet Knights advance to face No. 4 Tewksbury on Tuesday at 7 p.m.

Haverhill volleyball needed to win its regular-season finale to punch its ticket to the postseason and the Hillies did just that, sweeping Lowell 3-0. Alex Itasaka (22 digs) and Ornela Llupo (14 assists, 7 digs) were mainstays for Haverhill, which made the tourney for the first time since 2007.

Ornela Llupo had 22 assists and Geena Blanchard recorded 11 digs as Haverhill volleyball won 3-2 over Lexington in girls volleyball action. 

Haverhill had a tough offseason when three starters elected not to return this fall, but the Hillies have responded favorably thus far. Led by Paige Grant at the net and a strong overall team performance, the Hillies improved to 3-3 by sweeping Lawrence yesterday.

Paige Grant crushed eight aces to help Haverhill best rival Lawrence 25-22, 25-12, 22-25, 25-17.

Haverhill senior Angie Driftmeyer celebrated her 17th birthday with six kills to help the Hillies shut out Somerville in its season opener.
