Goalie provides offensive punch

Down 1-0 to the Minuteman at halftime, Whittier coach Meghan Welcome needed someone to step up and score so she moved goalie Kailah Goulet to center-forward. Goulet responded by scoring her first varsity goal as Whittier tied the Minuteman 1-1.

Whittier coach Meghan Welcome was able to get all 20 of her players some field time yesterday in a convincing 8-0 victory over Lynn Tech. Sophomore Marisa McVicker had a solid game offensively for the Wildcats, who won their second straight game.

Brasil,'Cats learning


In a battle of first-year programs, Whittier's girls soccer team rolled past Greater Lawrence 6-0. Kendra Brasil had two goals and two assists for the Wildcats, who are a respectable 2-2-1 after five games.

Minuteman 3, Whittier 1

Whittier doesn't really need any more challenges. But even dealing with five starters competing with injuries, the first-year program is hanging tough as shown by yesterday's 3-1 loss to Minuteman, a game that was tied at halftime. Danielle Lebreque assisted on JoJo Plante's goal and had several scoring chances of her own, Kayla Goulet made a diving, fingertip save in the Wildcat net, and Marissa McVicker played three positions (outside midfield, sweeper and center mid) and did well at all of them.

Goulet stars in debut


In Whittier's first-ever girls soccer game, senior Kailah Goulet shined in goal, making 11 saves in a 2-0 loss to Mystic Valley. It was the first time Goulet, a former volleyball player, had played goalie.
