Andover boys relay takes 10th at Nationals; Cronin 3rd in HJ

The Andover 4x100 team of Troy Cayon, Adam Carrington, Brian Knapp and Patrick Farnham placed 10th yesterday at the New Balance Nationals in North Carolina. Their time of 42.48 places them second all-time in the area to Andover’s 42.37 last spring.

Farnham stands tall at EMass Division 1 meet

ANDOVER — Looking down at the gold medal that had been draped around his neck moments earlier, it still seemed a bit surreal to Andover’s Pat Farnham.

“I never though I’d be running this fast,” said Farnham. “I never thought I’d be running track at all in high school. It feels so awesome. I just love this.”

Severino, Farnham lead the way for boys

ANDOVER — A year ago, Andover’s Sydney Eberth was relegated to the sidelines as a spectator.

“She was sick with (mononucleosis) and missed last spring,” said Golden Warriors coach Peter Comeau. “She didn’t have a junior season. It was tough.”

Walsh sets Central record

Cam Walsh broke Jamison Whiting's 16-year-old Central Catholic record with his 14-1 pole vault in 75.5-64.5 Central Catholic win over Andover.

Walsh's vault puts him fifth all time in the area.  Whiting's previous record was 14-0.

Fabulous Farnham

Pat Farnham won the 200 in a blazing 21.8, took the 400 in 49.5 and added a victory in the long jump (21-7) as Andover bested Haverhill 87-44.

Triple crowns

Pat Morrow won the high jump (5-8), 110 hurdles (15.8) and 400 hurdles (60.2) as Andover opened it season by rolling past Chelmsford 96-49. Adam Carrington added wins in the pole vault, 200 and ran on the winning 4x100 relay.
