Victories from John DeAngelo and Dan Belanger helped Whittier finish third in the Commonwealth Conference meet held at Greater Lowell. DeAngelo tossed the discus 111-10 and Belanger ran the 110 high hurdles in a winning time of 16.9 seconds. Also, the Wildcats' 4x100 relay team of Paul Buccos, Jordan Gustav, Belanger and Scott Bonneau was triumphant (46.25).

ANDOVER — A year ago, Andover’s Sydney Eberth was relegated to the sidelines as a spectator.

“She was sick with (mononucleosis) and missed last spring,” said Golden Warriors coach Peter Comeau. “She didn’t have a junior season. It was tough.”

Paul Buccos remained unbeaten in both the long jump and triple jump with his dual victories for Whittier in a 95-40 loss to Chelsea. Buccos was also part of the Wildcats' other win in the 4x100 relay.

Whittier's Paul Buccos won the long jump (20-0), triple jump (40-8) and 100 meters (11:38) and led the winning 4X100 relay as Whittier beat Northeast Metro 82-53.

Paul Buccos was a double winner (100 and triple jump) as Whittier dominated the field events, but Greater Lowell's depth and success in the running events translated into an 87-49 victory.

HAVERHILL — On a day that left most participants wishing it was still the indoor season, Central Catholic got a couple big wins and enough placers to win the 34th annual John Ottaviani Haverhill Invitational yesterday afternoon.

Paul Buccos won the triple jump, 100 and ran on the winning 4x100 relay as Whittier downed Greater Lawrence 80-56.
