No-riss leads Andover

Andover's Colin Norris tossed a no-hitter in a 3-2 win over Billerica.

"He pitched well," said head coach Dan Grams. "They scored two runs on a walk and then an error — we blew a double-play ball. No one should have scored for him, but that's been our achillies heel all year, a walk and an error. But Colin pitched very well, he pitched great."

Sophomore lifts Andover

 

In his first varsity start, sophomore Nathan Spellacy was on base all three times with a double and two walks as Andover drilled Haverhill, 11-3. Alex Driscoll had three hits, and Sean McQuillan added a pair for the Warriors. Sophomore Nick Comei belted a two-run homer and had three hits for the Hillies.

McQuillan brothers record six hits

Sean McQuillan's three-run shot highlighted Andover's six-run sixth inning, which snapped the game's final tie and paced Andover to a 9-3 win at Dracut.  Andrew Delory hit a two-run homer in the sixth. Sean McQuillan led Andover with three hits and his brother, Mike, also had three hits.  John Levenson went the distance, allowing just two earned runs and not issuing a walk.

Resilient Andover outlasts Salem in 8

ANDOVER — A premier pitching matchup morphed into an extra-innings thriller, and Andover High proved it could survive under both circumstances.

The Warriors knocked off Salem, N.H., 7-6, by rallying for a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth, to snap a two-game slide and improve to 3-2 on the young campaign.

Tewksbury 13, Andover 4

Andover suffered its first loss of the year, falling 13-4 to Tewksbury. Sophomore Andrew Delouri's two-run single was part of a three-run second inning to draw the Warriors within one, but the Redmen exploded for seven runs in the sixth to salt the victory away.
