Every Monday RallyNorth.net will salute bone-crunching linebackers, elusive running backs, immovable linemen and rocket-armed quarterbacks from the 37 area high school football teams. We've dubbed them Power Players and you won't want to miss who the best and the brightest were from the weekend's schoolboy gridiron action.

Eric Guinto, Pinkerton: Want to pick out the moment the Astros won their third straight state championship? On the first play of the second half, the fleet-footed Guinto took off on the right side and scampered 81 yards for the back-breaking touchdown that gave Pinkerton a 14-2 win. For the day, the sophomore rushed for a game-high 107 yards on only 12 carries, and struck fear in the hearts of New Hampshire defenses that have to face him for two more years.

Pete Mazzola, Pinkerton: Fans arrived wearing tee-shirts that read "Mazzola for Heisman." And the senior did not disappoint. Mazzola had the game of his career at defensive back, making eight tackles, giving him 55 for the season. He added four passes knocked down, including a pair on fourth-down plays that ended drives. The QB also completed both of his passes, one a 28-yard touchdown to Bobby Dattilo.

Bruce Vieira, Pelham: What more can be said about Vieira? That he's a state champion. Only a junior, Viera rushed for 132 yards and two touchdowns on 22 carries. His 31-yard TD opened the scoring in the first quarter. The 2006 Eagle-Tribune All-Star finished the season with 1,419.

Max Roth, Pelham: Roth, a senior captain, turned in the defensive play of the play of the day when he stopped Gilford's Eric Dean for a loss on fourth-and-short. He was a force all day, making a team-best 11 tackles and two sacks and the Pythons won 21-7.

It's pretty funny when the 2nd leading tackler on PA hasn't gotten power player once this year. After the 16 tackle 1 sack 1 Forced Fumble and Game Winning Pick in End Zone in OT I thought he may have gotten it. I guess in the Championship Game the 10 tackles and 3 passes defended weren't enough either. # 5 Tom Olivier
