Trinity tops Timberlane

Zach Fox collected two hits and an RBI, but it wasn't enough as No. 9 Timberlane fell to top-seeded Trinity, 3-1, in the Class L quarterfinals. P.J. Singster was outdueled by Pioneers starter Garrett Cole, who fanned 10 in a complete-game effort. Singster allowed just five hits over six innings, but Trinity's 1-2-3 hitters made him pay with three runs scored.

Caron, Lancers slay Spaulding

Sean Caron went 2 for 4 with six RBIs and two runs scored as Londonderry dropped Spaulding, 12-0, in the Class L first round. Caron smashed a 3-run homer in the first and also had a bases-clearing double in the third. Dan Lagasse racked up three hits and Jake Finnegan fanned five in four innings to get the win. It was a very meaningful win for coach Brent Demas, who registered his 100th career victory.

Sinkiewicz fans 14, hits solo homerun in quarterfinal win.

Division 3 Georgetown starting pitcher Andrew Sinkiewicz pitched a complete game with 14 strikeouts and hit a homerun to help his cause. The Royals won the game 8-2 and move on to the Semifinals. There they will get a second chance at the North Reading Hornets who knocked them out of the quarterfinals last season 10-9.

No contest for Raiders

Central Catholic's baseball team hardly worked up a sweat yesterday in a 12-2 Division 1 North first-round rout of Brook Farm of West Roxbury. Tim Wheeler was 2 for 5 with a home run and Brendan Walsh was 3 for 5 with an RBI and three runs scored as the Raiders banged out 15 hits. Meanwhile pitcher Matt Novak and Brian Wolfendale combined on a one-hitter, striking out 11 between them.
