Pugh, Kolodziej make history

Sanborn boys basketball beat Pembroke 83-70 thanks in large part to a pair of historic performances by Andrew Pugh and Kevin Kolodziej. Pugh scored a career-high 25 points with five 3-pointers to lead the team in scoring, and Kolodziej had a school-record 21 rebounds, including 10 offensive boards, along with his four points. Sanborn is now 9-2 on the season.

Patnaude, Hurley help Owls stay unbeaten

PLAISTOW — Timberlane pounded Division 2 rival Pembroke, 49-13, on Friday night, to improve to 7-0. Dominic Pallaria and Dan Post both scored twice in a balanced effort. Harrison Bloom was 7-for-7 on PAT kicks. Coach Kevin Fitzgerald went to the bench early and everybody seemed to contribute. He was elated that backup running back Austin Patnaude led the squad in rushing and had a 34-yard TD run. Also Sean Hurley shined on defense include a sack. Fitzgerald, the 14th-year Owls head coach, thought it might be 25 years or longer since the Owls were 7-0 to start the season. The Owls are at Kingswood (0-6 heading into Saturday's game) next Friday at 7 p.m.

Thornton shines in finale

T.J. Thornton had a brilliant game with 16 carries for 156 yards including a 94-yard touchdown run but Sanborn lost its season finale to Pembroke 20-6.

Thornton was the show for the Indians, who finished up at 0-7. He had 156 of the club's 185 yards of offense. Pembroke improved to 4-2.

Crowley catches fire

Matt Crowley scored a career-high 22 points, including six 3-pointers, and Pelham raced out to a 26-point halftime lead on the way to dispatching of Pembroke 70-31. Jake Dumont added 15 points, including three 3-pointers.

Pink out

The Sanborn field hockey team celebrated its Breast Cancer Awareness night by wearing its pink jerseys and taking down Pembroke, 5-0. Ella Cotter and Avery Peters each scored twice for the Indians (6-5). "The sky even turned pink for us after the game!" laughed Sanborn head coach Vicki Parady-Guay.

Pelham grabs first win

In its last match of the season, the Pelham girls tennis team snatched its first win of the campaign, beating Pembroke, 6-3. Sasha Burke, Payton Hamlin, Ruby Day and Sarra Catizone were winners at singles, and teams of Burke/Hamlin and Day/Catizone won at doubles to clinch the victory.

Crowley paces Pelham

 

Junior Derek Crowley poured in a career-high 31 points as Pelham rallied from 10 points down in the fourth quarter to shock previously unbeaten Pembroke, 54-49. Junior Derek Crowley led Pelham (5-2) with a career high 31 points.  Senior Cam Loring chipped in with 10 points including 5 huge points in the deciding moments of the game.
