Facing a three-game skid, the Phillips girls hockey team turned to sophomore Katie Wimmer of Windham to make her first career start. It went as well as anyone could have imagined, as Wimmer turned away 28 shots in a 5-1 win over New Hampton (12-6-1). The win was huge for Phillips (8-4-3) as it jockeys for playoff positioning.

NEW HAMPTON, N.H. — With the game still in doubt as the clock ran down, Pat Freiermuth made certain that he would end his high school football career on top.

“The coaches send me on an ‘X’ (blitz) and the quarterback made a late read,” said the Brooks senior from Merrimac. “I just went in and stripped it. I knew it was over then.”

Charlotte Welch had the hat trick and her twin sister, Elizabeth, had one of the assists as the Phillips girls hockey team blanked perennial power New Hampton 3-0. Ashley Tucker was brilliant with 29 saves.

Dylan Mott scored two goals to tie the school career record with 47 and Phillips drubbed New Hampton 8-1. Mott, who also had an assist, is a 5-5, 125-pound senior midfielder from Glen Ridge, N.J. He shares the record with Garnet Hathaway (PA '10), who is a hockey star playing in the AHL.

The Phillips Academy boys lacrosse team scored the game's first eight goals in a 10-5 defeat of New Hampton. Andover's Austin Gaiss had a pair of goals for the Big Blue.

Phillips Academy's boys soccer team scored early and often in a 9-0 rout of New Hampton. James MacLeod had a hat trick and Brandon Girard had two goals and two assists for the Big Blue (10-4-2).

Duke-bound Joe Kruy scored four goals as Phillips earned its first win of the season, 12-5 over New Hampton.

No. 2 New Hampton blew open a tight contest to eliminate seventh seed Phillips from the Class A tourney, 47-33. Megan Robertson wrapped up her high school career with a team-high 15 points for the Big Blue.

Gina Sawaya potted her first career goal, as Phillips posted its highest goal total of the season on the way to downing New Hampton 4-1. Kellie Walsh added a goal and two assists.
