That was the type of play that the Gloucester hockey team outlined as their style at the beginning of this season.

The Fishermen stayed true to that style of play in their 5-1 win over Saugus last night at the Talbot Rink. Gloucester received four points from junior captain Josh Salah and the team tallied 38 shots on goal en route to victory.

Saugus football stomps Marblehead

MARBLEHEAD | Head coach Doug Chernovetz knows his Marblehead High football team is better than it has played this season.

Unfortunately, the Magicians only have one more game to prove it.

Marblehead dropped its third straight game | and missed out on an opportunity to keep alive hope for its first winning season since 1992 | when Saugus scored early and often on its way to a 40-14 victory last night at Piper Field.

Gloucester blanks Saugus

Luke Cosgrove, Shane O'Neill and Ben Hannah each scored for the Fishermen. Nick LoCoco and Alex Trotsky provided the assists while goalkeeper Dom Braga made five saves to earn the shutout. Gloucester (10-2-2) closes out the regular season with three tough games: home to Marblehead, at Swampscott and home to Danvers.

Balanced scoring leads Peabody past Sachems

Peabody knocked off Saugus, 4-1. The Tanners expanded a 1-0 halftime lead, pulling away on goals by Erica Digiacomo, Stephanie Muscato and Alyssa Manoogian to improve to 9-0.

Emily Manoogian accounted for the first half goal. Alyssa Manoogian collected a pair of assists and Digiacomo had one.
