Rondeau does it all

 

Senior Ryan Rondeau had the game of his life as Pelham remained on a roll with an 84-38 thumping of Newport. Not only did he score a career high 19 points, but he held Newport high scorer Andrew Hood to nine points. He had been averaging 26. Keith Brown led Pelham in points with 26.

Newport scored one run in the bottom of the seventh and had runners on second and third. But Pelham's Jordan Parece struck out the last batter to secure the 3-2 win. Hannah Paitchel had an RBI triple and Parece plated Kelsey Grimard on a safety squeeze.

Dan Gionet tournament

Whittier showed its best depth of the season and came away with the title at the 10-team Dan Gionet tournament in Pelham. The Wildcats didn't crown one champion, but they had eight placers, led by runners-up Garret Gadd (125) and Corey Chabuz (heavyweight).

Pelham rolls past Newport

Bruce Vieira gained 163 yards and scored a second-quarter touchdown, leading undefeated (8-0) Pelham to a 28-12 win, at Newport.

Cameron Robidoux opened the scoring in the first quarter with a 2-yard run. In the third quarter, Joe DeAngelo added a 5-yard run and Mike Lombard concluded the scoring with a 15-yard interception return in the fourth. The Pythons return home Friday for a 7 p.m. meeting with Gilford.
