Lancers prevail for title; Holt shines

And it was a particularly good day for the Lawrence Lancers, who captured their second straight Haverhill Invitational title, rolling up 199<1/2> points to edge the runner-up Londonderry Lancers (174<1/2>) for top honors.

Peabody falls to N.H. powerhouse

Old rivals Peabody and Bishop Fenwick will meet today in the Tanner City Holiday Tournament, but not in the finals as both teams had hoped. Instead, they will battle in the consolation game at 3:30.

Peabody suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of last year's New Hampshire state champion Winnacunnet Regional, 56-42, while Fenwick lost by three points to Melrose.

Timberlane comes up just short

PLAISTOW, N.H. | The harder it rained, the harder Timberlane played.

After getting pounded by Winnacunnet for most of the first half, and falling behind 28-6 in the process, the Owls refused to fold as the special teams and the defense made plays the offense gladly cashed in. But after climbing to within a point during the worst of the night's deluge, a point-after kick was blocked with 4:15 left in the game, allowing the visiting Warriors to survive with a 35-34 victory.
