MANCHESTER — Sanborn interim coach Tony King wanted to ease sophomore Jackson Paradis into the rotation slowly.

But, after the 5-foot-10, 190-pound running back gashed Manchester West for 139 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns Friday night, that probably won't be the case anymore. Paradis' big night helped the Indians get off to a season-opening 23-20 win over Manchester West.

 Pelham sophomore Lanna Pierce smashed two home runs and drove in five runs and was the winning pitcher in a 13-2 win over Manchester West.

Aislinn Milner hit a grand slam and Kendall Gravell knocked in three runs and was a homer short of the cycle as Windham blew out Manchester West 14-0 in both teams' season opener. 

Windham co-captain Eric Thibodeau tore his Achilles in the first quarter of the Jags' season opener, ending his season. But he came back Thursday in a very limited role. He started the game against West and the visitors left him open so he could swish a long jump shot then return to the bench. Windham returned the favor and West scored at the other end. 

Drew Brown had 23 points and seven 3-pointers as Pelham walloped West, 90-37.

Senior forward Dylan Andrews scored a career-high 20 points to lead Pelham boys basketball to a win over Manchester West. Sophomore guard Derek Crowley added 15 points, as the Pythons had 10 different scorers.

Sam Hovan erupted for 16 of his game-high 20 points in the second half as Timberlane pulled away for a 69-58 win over Manchester West. Calvin Geisler and Christian Allaire delivered huge defensive efforts for the Owls.

Windham wrestling swept its match, 84-0, against Manchester West thanks to forfeits in a remarkable nine matches. Marc Bedient, Ty Ham, Matthew Sullivan, Hunter Tornquist and Christian Parker all picked up pins for Windham in the five weight classes West had.

Windham's girls opened their season with an 80-21 romp over Manchester West. Leading the way for the Jaguars were junior Sam Adamson with 17 points and freshman Sarah Dempsey with 12.

MANCHESTER — It was Pelham's fourth straight victory, and also it's fourth straight shutout.

Pelham refuse to allow points, and on Friday night swallowed up Manchester West en route to a 16-0 victory. It is now 17 consecutive quarters that the Pythons have kept their opponenets of the scoreboard.
