PELHAM —Pelham's gameplan was simple Friday night.

The Pythons ran the ball 53 times for 288 yards, and the defense held strong in a 28-0 shutout of Merrimack Valley. Matt Muise led the way for the winners with 108 yards on 23 carries, and Colby Travis added 69 yards on eight carries.

Izzi Giles made 8 saves, one on a late penalty stroke, as Sanborn field hockey held off Merrimack Valley, 2-1. Ella Cotter had a goal and an assist.

In Windham girls lacrosse's 16-2 victory over Merrimack Valley, the Jaguars had 11 different players put the ball in the back of the net. Kayla Antonucci led all scorers with three goals.

Jake Hebert hit a contested layup with two seconds left as No. 5 Merrimack Valley won a 52-51 thriller over No. 12 Windham in opening round action. Riley Desmarais and Drew Kelley had 12 points each for Windham.

 Katie Tarr scored 5 goals, Lily Ashford 4 and Kiley Simmons 3 as Timberlane dropped Merrimack Valley 14-5.

Windham's Emma Lindquist had four goals and two assists in an 18-3 rout of Merrimack Valley, gifing her 300 points in her career.
