Strong start

The Georgetown-Ipswich wrestling team got off to a good start Friday night, beating Josiah Quincy 45-30 in its season opener. Troy Forgitano had the match of the night, pinning his opponent with nine seconds remaining in the match. Brandon Odle, Tre Aulson and Jei Yeaton also got pins and Matt Mansfield won his match 6-4.

Mark Mansfield wrestled up a weight class and won 5-4 at 182 with a late takedown. Another Georgetown-Ipswich winner was his brother Matt.

With the match on the line, sophomore Josiah Krason recorded a pin at 106 to help Georgetown ease past Josiah Quincy 39-34 in a season opener. Carsten LaPlante bumped up a weight and got the Royals off right with a 5-4 decision at 120.

Nick McGrath's pin at 135 pounds in the day's final match lifted Lynnfield-North Reading from a four-point deficit to a 42-40 triumph over Josiah Quincy of Boston. Both teams scored seven victories, but the Hornets (16-9) maximized their scoring with seven pins. Tyler Shaffer (103), Jeff Conron (119) and Trent Taylor (130) impressed with pins in less than a minute.
