Brooks boys basketball came from behind to beat first-place St. Sebastian 63-52, who was undefeated in ISL play and whose only loss was to national powerhouse IMG Academy. Brady Cummins (26 points, 9 rebounds) and Darrel Yepdo (25 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, 3 steals) led the way as Brooks improved to 7-3 on the season.

94-game streak snapped

Despite getting 17 points and 12 rebounds from senior Sam Thomson, the Brooks boys basketball team fell to St. Sebastian, 84-71. According to coach John McVeigh, the loss snapped Brooks' 94-game winning streak in the ISL dating back to February of 2014.

Warriors bow out

Four members of the Andover boys tennis team fought hard, but eventually fell during the North Sectional Individual Championship. David Grossman advanced to the quarterfinals with a 6-3, 6-1 win, but lost to Ipswich's top player 3-6, 1-6. Avi Jonarthanan lost in the round of 16 (0-6, 0-6), and the doubles team of Sam Feng and Bryan Hun Htun won 6-4, 7-5 before falling in the quarters to Lexington's second doubles team 6-2, 3-6, 2-6.

Brooks can't keep up

 

NORTH ANDOVER — Unbeaten St. Sebastian was too much for Brooks Friday night, scoring on two quick touchdowns and rolling to a 37-6 victory.

Brooks (2-4) cut an early hole to 14-6 late in the first quarter when Kobe Briand scored on a 9-yard pass from Connor Silva but St. Sebastian (6-0) scored the next 23 points for the win.

Princeton commit Jackson Emus tossed a complete-game three-hitter with nine strikeouts to lead Phillips to a 3-1 win over previously one-loss St. Sebastian (11-2). Phillips moved to 16-2 with the win.

NEEDHAM — Brooks made sure to get the ball to Pat Freiermuth early and often.

The hullking 6-foot-5, 240-pound Penn State-bound tight end accounted for 165 total yards and three touchdowns, helping Brooks beat St. Sebastian, 35-26, Saturday afternoon.
