Brandon Santell and Jon Vellila split dutiers at 220 and heavyweight and both were undefeated and Eric Sanchez bumped up to 195 for a pin against standout Derek DiMascio to help Lawrence edge Wakefield 39-37 on its way to a quad-meet sweep to improve to 12-4 on the year. Also against Wakefield, freshman Angel Miranda had an impressive win at 182 in the win.  

Lawrence's unbeaten volleyball team played its first tournament game just like the regular season — in dominant fashion, rolling past Winchester in three games. Abigail Heredia had another big game for the Lancers (19-0) at the net with 18 kills while Vielka Sanchez had 20 assists and 4 aces. 

ANDOVER — Tommy Duncan ran for two scores and Victor Harrington threw touchdown aerials to Brendon Moody (63 yards) and Nick Zalanskas (2 yards) as Andover won its non-playoff matchup with Winchester, 27-14. Andover (3-5) got 158 of its 159 rushing yards from Duncan. Andover had probably its best defensive game of the season as Winchester was limited to the two TDs, the second on the final play of the game. Defensive passes Dennis Tavares had five passes defended, Kelvin Davila intercepted a pass and linebackers Phil Menihtas and Michael Slayton both payed inspired game.

Just 38 seconds into double overtime, Andover's Joanna Archambault broke right with the ball and sprinted 30 yards before reaching the top of the circle. From there, the senior fired a shot that went over the goalie's head to give the No. 8-seeded Warriors a dramatic 2-1 win over No. 9 Winchester in the Division 1 North first round.

Andover played tough defense in the first half, rolling to a 6-2 lead, and went on for a 13-8 win over Winchester in the first round of the Division 1 North girls lacrosse tournament. Emma Farnum led the attack for the Warriors (14-7) with four goals while Brooke Lenes and Jordan Torres scored three apiece.

Jack Chace set up his teammates perfectly, dishing out five assists to help North Andover boys lacrosse beat Winchester, 10-6, in the Coaches Cup semifinals. The Knights will play Hingham in the finals on May, 31. 

Pentucket eighth grader Tyler Knox won all three matches as Pentucket/Newburyport went 2-1 at the TravisYell duals. One of Knox's wins was a 9-4 decision over Winchester's Scott Downs, who was a Lowell Holiday Tournament finalist. Jason Young had three pins for the Sachems (16-6).

Kelly Golini scored a hat trick, giving her 20 goals for the season, as Methuen/Tewksbury clipped Winchester 6-2, improving its record to 13-1.

Greater Lawrence only won once in a home quad-meet but the Reggies wrestled well and one of their two losses was by just two points to Billerica. Aden Ranno (120), Ader Mezidor (160), Christian Hernandez (170) and Malib Pastrana (195/220) were all 3-0 on the day for the Reggies.

Lawrence had a bounce-back effort at the Chicopee Duals, winning three of four, after struggling mightily against Chelmsford. Sophomore 106-pounder Luis Mauricio was 3-1 and only lost to Lowell Holiday Tournament finalist Scott Downs of Winchester 8-6, heavyweight Brandon Santell was 4-0 with four pins and Michael Hernandez and Chris Bueno were also 4-0. Freshman first-year wrestler Jaycob Zapata was an impressive 3-1.
