ANDOVER — It was over before anyone could blink.

Greater Lawrence scored twice in the first 96 seconds of the game, dropped 30 points in the first quarter and cruised to a dominating 44-18 victory over Mystic Valley Friday night.

Eddie Adams, Wander Languasco and Josh Small were the top three runners to finish as Greater Lawrence boys cross country won 20-38 to hand talented Mystic Valley its second loss of the season (4-2).

Kyle Eddy must have been tired after this one. The Whittier sophomore went 3 for 4 with three runs scored in a 5-4 win over Mystic Valley, mostly because he stole six bases!

Kelleigh Greaney was 3 for 3 with four RBIs to pace Whittier Tech to a 13-0 win over Mystic Valley. Nicole Verrette allowed just one hit and struck out seven in five innings for the win.

Mark Iamele was all of the offense Whittier boys lacrosse needed. The senior midfielder scored five of the Wildcats' six goals in a low-scoring win over Mystic Valley. Elsewhere, Corey DeFusco played great defense on Mystic Valley's top scorer, and sophomore goalie Jackson Buccheri made a couple of big saves down the stretch.

Anthony Buckley poured in 25 points and Demario Scarpegnato added 23 and they were a combined 6 for 6 from the free throw line in overtime as Whittier outlasted Mystic Valley 77-72. The Wildcats (10-1) were outscored 25-7 in the second quarter but battled in the second half.

MALDEN - You never want to see a teammate go down, but Greater Lawrence's Marc Travers is always ready when his number gets called.

With starting quarterback Jose Caceres sidelined with an injury, Travers, a senior from Methuen, was forced in to the starting role Saturday evening in a tight spot. A win against Mystic Valley would guarantee the Reggies a playoff berth, but a loss could have left them on the outside looking in.

Colin Dunn trucked through a hilly Notre Dame course to finish first, as Whittier swept both Mystic Valley and Minuteman 15-50. Notre Dame only has girls cross country.

Whittier (13-1) scored twice in the top of the seventh to beat Mystic Valley 4-3. Cam Cammaso (6 Ks, 0 runs, 4 innings) got the win in relief and tripled in the tying run. Adam Marino scored the winner on a passed ball.

Kaley Thibault's three-run home run in the bottom of the fifth broke open the game for Whittier, as the Wildcats (9-1) earned a big 9-3 win over Mystic Valley (10-3). Thibault and Alyssa Wilson each had three RBIs, and pitcher Nicole Verrette had 10 strikeouts.
