Kendra Hobbs smacked a three-run triple and a three-run homer, one of three round-trippers on the day for Whittier in a 17-0 shellacking of Mystic Valley.
Tiffany Mannion and Emily Pomer also homered for the 5-0 Wildcats.
Whittier pushed across three runs in the top of the seventh to rally past Mystic Valley, 3-2. Steve Surette was hit by a pitch and scored on a Bill Lafferty double. Steve Clark walked but Lafferty was thrown out on a passed ball. Damian Colman smashed a deep triple to bring in Clark. Nate Allen singled in what proved to be the winning run.

The Hornets were playing a Mystic Valley team that is not one of the stronger teams in the Commonwealth Athletic Conference. While some teams would fall into the trap of playing a weaker opponent, the Hornets came out with the focus and intensity of a big game en route to a dominating 35-8 win over the Eagles at Endicott College in Beverly. The Hornets, who improved to 2-0, were lead by a 35-point first half, and saw the backups play the entire second half.
